FLDC dance classes are based on skill level.
The recommended ages are meant as a guide, however, after careful evaluation, the instructors may move a dancer to another class based on what is in the best interest of the dancer.
Every dancer will be challenged and placed in classes for their ultimate success.
Level 1- Beginners (approximately ages 5-8)
Level 2- Intermediate (approximately ages 9-12)
Level 3- Advanced (approximately ages 13+)
Class descriptions
Acro
In acro, students will work on their power and flexibility while learning how to execute tumbling passes and tricks.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance, therefore, the most important class a student could take. It develops a strong understanding of technique, body alignment, and classical ballet terminology.
Hip hop
Dancers are able to let go and be in the moment! Hip Hop dance allows the dancer to explore their wild side and feel funky!
Jazz
Jazz dance combines technique with fun and exciting choreography. Emphasizes, hard hitting, sharp movements, turns, and leaps.
Leaps and turns/Technique
Learn the skills it takes to become a high jumper and excellent "turner!" Challenging turn combinations and leaps across the floor will push dancers to excel in performances.
lyrical/COntemporary/modern
Lyrical dance is an expressive form of dance that creatively utilizes the ballet style. Typically performed to music with emotional lyrics. As for contemporary/modern, it explores the movement potential of the whole body. It is a unique style of dance with no boundaries or defined style. Through collaboration, choreographers and dancers are able to create fresh and innovative works of art.
Pointe/pre-pointe
For experienced dancers only. For beginning pointe dancers. MUST BE PRE-APPROVED TO JOIN THIS CLASS. Students entering this class must have a clear understanding of body alignment, strong ankles, and have full body awareness. In this class, dancers will learn pointe exercises that will train the muscles to support the weight of the body on the shoe platform correctly.
